Dear Friends,
I am writing to you today with a personal and heartfelt prayer request.
As many of you know, Savita and I have lived in the same house for the majority of our lives. It has been more than just a home to us. It’s where our children were raised, where our grandchildren have played, it's the place the first classes were taught and where many of the students from the Bible College were taught, discipled, and cared for over the decades. It has been a place of prayer, ministry, wonderful times with brothers and sisters in Christ from both Fiji and all over the world, and wonderful memories.
Recently, we were blessed by a visit from Roy Hogan of MMM (Mobile Mission Maintenance) Ministries. MMM is a mission organisation that partners with Christian ministries by providing practical assistance through building projects, maintenance, and hands-on support (you can find out more from their website: https://www.mmmfiji.org/about/). Roy came to help us with our growing termite concerns by offering advice and hands-on training for placing termite baits and treating affected areas.
As part of his visit, Roy inspected several of our ministry sites — the Bible College, the Vocational School, the Johnson Road campus, and our personal residence. Following his visit, he sent us a sobering report regarding the state of our home. In his words:
“In my professional opinion as a New Zealand-qualified carpenter, I am stating that the house of Dr. Nair is in a critically damaged state and is at extreme risk of collapse. The house should be condemned and evacuated by all inhabitants and plans made to demolish it before the next cyclone season. The floors particularly are in a very dangerous condition and a slight misstep could easily lead to someone getting injured. I strongly recommend you take decisive action in this before it’s too late. ”
Roy further advised that the house be made completely inaccessible, except for limited access to continue the termite baiting process, which remains important in eradicating the active colony.
This has not been easy to process. This home holds six decades of memories and ministry. But Savita and I are choosing to trust the Lord in this change. He has always led us — and we believe He is leading us now. While the emotional and historical value of this home is immense, after much prayer and consultation, Savita and I will need to move out of the home we have lived in for most of our lives. This is not an easy decision, especially for Savita. This house holds decades of memories — our children grew up here, our grandchildren ran around here, and many students from CTEF have stayed, studied, and been mentored within its walls. But we are confident that the Lord who has carried us through six decades of ministry will carry us through this change as well.
And so, we will need to move out of our home.
We know the One who goes before us. He has carried us through more storms than we can count, and He will carry us through this too. His mercies have never failed us.
I would humbly ask if you could make this a matter of urgent prayer.
Pray that the Lord would give us strength and grace through this transition.
Pray that He would provide a suitable place for us to live and continue serving from.
Pray for the ongoing termite treatment across our ministry sites — that it would be effective and that our facilities would be preserved.
Finally, Roy mentioned that as demand for termite bait increases, long-term supply may become more challenging. He offered to connect us with his supplier in Australia, and we are praying for wisdom in how best to prepare for the future.
Please stand with us in prayer. Your faithfulness over the years has helped us to keep going. As always, we are deeply thankful.
Narayan
