The month of April naturally causes our hearts to reflect upon Easter and the great hope that we have in Christ. As I was thinking upon these things, I was reminded of a poem I wrote back in 2020 reflecting upon the person and work of our Lord Jesus. My prayer is that as you read it, your heart would once again be drawn to fix your eyes upon Christ—the Eternal Son, our crucified and risen Saviour, the One who entered into this broken world to save sinners and reconcile us to God.

In a world filled with uncertainty, suffering, and death, Easter reminds us that our hope is not ultimately found in this world, but in the risen King who conquered sin, Satan, and the grave. Because Christ lives, His people have hope—not only for eternity, but strength for each day as we seek to walk faithfully before Him.

The Person of the Eternal Son

Only Begotten, Thou Beloved Son

Great Lamb of God, Eternal One

Maker of all; dust, earth and sky.

Light of light, Thou great Adonai.

Word made Flesh; among us dwelt.

Promised Redeemer; in time, come forth.

Heaven’s high choir boldly proclaims

That Zion’s Deliverer in a manger lay;

Shepherds and Magi, worship the King,

Swaddled in linen, the Sovereign supreme!

Eternal Son, most gracious Lord,

Thou who took on flesh and blood;

To reach and save this fallen race,

And share the bounty of Thy grace!

Glorious mercy, blessed design!

Most marvellous and profound design!

Thou Spotless One for me did die;

And swapped Thy robe; mine for Thine!

Curse of my life did fall on Thee!

Benefit of Thy days accredited me!

Thou didst drink that bitter cup;

Not in part, but the whole lot!

Light of creation, Great I AM,

Thou for whom the seraphim sang;

Hung in darkness, scorned and slain,

“It is finished,” Thy mighty refrain.

To His hands Thy Spirit submit;

Lifeless corpse to the tomb commit.

Large stone rolled to sealed that pit.

All seemed dark, feeble, weak.

Alas, fret not! All is not lost—simply a season!

For this dead body would in three days be risen!

The earth did tremble; the stone rolled away.

The tomb stood empty on that first day!

“Where is our Lord!?” the disciples cried,

“Not here, He lives!” the angels replied.

Now one by one, He appeared to them;

Not bloodied or beaten, but risen again!

“Touch and see; it is truly I,

Who once was dead, but evermore alive!”

Where is He now, our glorious King?

Ascended and seated beside Majesty.

Alpha and Omega—that be He;

Who is with you always,

Till He gathers thee.

What the Lord Has Allowed and the Doors He Has Opened This Month

During the Easter Convention held from the 3rd–5th of April, approximately 350 people attended the Friday and Sunday meetings, with around 120 attending on the Saturday sessions. We thank the Lord for the opportunity to gather together around His Word and to reflect upon the death and resurrection of Christ. Throughout the weekend there was a spirit of warmth, fellowship, and encouragement as believers gathered together to worship, hear the Scriptures taught, and spend time in prayer and fellowship.

One of the things that always strikes me during conventions like these is the reminder that the gospel continues to unite people from many different backgrounds, ages, and walks of life. In a world increasingly divided and confused, there is something deeply beautiful about seeing people gathered together around Christ and His Word - having been brought into His family. Please pray that the truths proclaimed during the convention would continue to bear fruit in the lives of those who attended.

We were also blessed during this time to have an evangelist from America visit and spend time with us. He spoke with the Bible college students and encouraged them in their walk with the Lord and in the calling to faithfully proclaim Christ. We thank God for those whom He brings alongside us to strengthen and encourage the work here in Fiji. It is always encouraging for our students to meet believers from different parts of the world who share the same burden to see Christ exalted among the nations.

Students continue faithfully in their lectures this semester, and we are thankful to the Lord for sustaining both staff and students through another busy academic term. Please also continue praying for the lecturers and administration team as they work hard behind the scenes preparing lessons, assessments, online resources, and student support. We praise God for all those involved and pray that the study of theology would never merely remain academic, but that it would lead students to deeper worship, greater holiness, and a greater love for Christ and His people.

Fiji was also struck by a sustained Category 3 cyclone. Much of the cassava crop—which is one of the staple foods for many local families and students—was badly damaged, and many trees were uprooted or broken. We are deeply thankful to the Lord, however, that there were no serious injuries among our staff, students, or families, and that there was no major damage to the main ministry buildings.

Not long afterwards, a tornado also passed through the Johnson Road area. It tore sections of roofing from Dr. Poasi’s home and destroyed the water tank connected to the chicken coop at the vocational school. While these events were difficult, they again reminded us of both the frailty of life and the kindness of God in preserving us through them. Please pray as repairs continue and as some rebuilding work still needs to be done.

We are also deeply thankful to the Lord for a generous donation from Barnabas Aid, which included food supplies, medical equipment, wheelchairs, and lifters for Dr. Poasi’s daughter, Helen. In addition, Barnabas provided well over 2,000 optical frames and lenses that can be used for free distribution to those who are unable to afford prescription glasses.

Please pray for every individual who will receive a free pair of glasses through this outreach ministry. Our prayer is not only that they would receive clearer physical sight, but even more importantly, that the eyes of their hearts would be opened by the Spirit of God to see the beauty and glory of Christ as the gospel is shared with them. One of the great blessings of ministries like this is that practical help often opens doors for meaningful gospel conversations with people who may otherwise never enter a church building or speak with a Christian about spiritual things.

We continue to ask prayer for Sarath’s registration approval and visa situation as we seek to move forward with further development within the Christian Helps ministry. Once again, there continue to be delays and resistance. Please pray that the Lord would grant wisdom, favour, patience, and guidance as we navigate these processes. Our desire through Christian Helps has always been not merely to provide physical assistance, but to use these opportunities as bridges through which the love of Christ and the message of salvation may be shared.

Temporary US Donation Update

We also want to thank the Lord for His continued provision regarding support channels for the ministry. Recently, the Lord graciously provided a temporary alternative arrangement that may help some of our U.S. donors continue supporting the work while still receiving documentation for tax purposes. Our brother Rodney and the elders at Grace & Peace Fellowship Bible Church have kindly and sacrificially offered to assist us in this way during this difficult season.

Brother Rodney wrote:

“While we have full tax-exempt status with the local and federal governments, we don’t have 501(c)(3) status. She advised me that under the current setup, anyone who donates to or through our ministry would continue to receive a statement (as we’ve been doing), which can be used for their tax purposes. For those using a DAF account, we need to be on a 501(c)(3) list as a charity to qualify, it seems. This is meant for organisations that also apply for grants and have larger donors. Since we are a small ministry, we’re not in a position to incorporate new systems. If anyone wants to send donations, which we will then forward to AFC(SP), they can do so by check or ACH/Wire deposit. We will give them a statement at the end of the year for their U.S. taxes. This is how we’ve done it until now with no issues.”

If anyone would like to make use of this arrangement, the details are as follows:

Federal IRS Issued EIN: 66-0961795

Mail Checks To:

Grace & Peace Fellowship Bible Church

P.O. Box 982374

Pago Pago, American Samoa 96799

Wire / ACH Details:

Bank Name: Territorial Bank of American Samoa (TBAS)

Account Name: Grace & Peace Fellowship Bible Church

Account Number: 02200045904

Routing Number: 121404048

Their Certificate of Incorporation can also be provided if required.

At the same time, we are continuing to prayerfully seek a long-term arrangement that would provide a formal 501(c)(3) avenue for tax-deductible giving, as we understand that many of our American prayer partners require this structure. Please continue making this an urgent matter of prayer, as approximately 70–80% of our support has historically come through the United States.

For those outside the US (or within the US) who desire to continue supporting the ministry directly without need of a US tax receipt, support can also still be sent to our Fiji account:

Prayer Requests

  • Please pray for the upcoming Youth Camp, that the Lord would use it to draw many young people to Himself and strengthen believers in their walk with Christ.

  • Please continue praying for Samisoni as he trains in poultry and pork farming to assist in teaching vocational students practical agricultural skills. Please also pray for Kirsten as he continues his optician studies, and for Sarath’s registration approval. All three serve in different ways within the Christian Helps ministry sphere. Pray that the Lord would continue opening doors for the gospel and that many would come to know the love of Christ toward sinners and sufferers alike.

  • Please pray for our students as they near the end of first semester classes and begin preparing for assessments and examinations. Study week will begin in May, with exams commencing during the third week of the month. Pray especially for wisdom, endurance, and spiritual growth during this busy period.

  • Please pray for another family visiting from America who will be conducting a Bible and Basketball children’s outreach program. We pray that the Lord would bless this ministry and that many children would hear the gospel clearly and come to know Christ.

  • Please continue praying for preparations underway for the Pastors’ Conference taking place from June 1–5. Dr. T.V. Thomas, Dr. Keith Stevenson, Rev. Ashley Saunders, and Dr. Nair will all be involved in teaching sessions focused on biblical leadership in Lautoka. We pray this conference would strengthen pastors and church leaders throughout Fiji and the wider Pacific region.

  • Please also pray for preparations for both the Glasshouse Christian School team and the Optical Outreach Team that will be visiting in July. There are many logistical details that must come together, and we ask that the Lord would guide and provide in every area.

  • Please pray for the ODA team that will be coming in late July and early August to do gospel outreach and also medical aid.

  • Please also pray for the Masters conference that will be conducted from August 3-14. This year we have Mr. Barry Frew and Dr. Arthur Adams (the dean of the program)

  • Finally, please continue praying for the ongoing financial needs of the ministry. At present, we have just over one month of support remaining. Humanly speaking, these things can appear overwhelming at times, yet we are continually reminded that this ministry belongs to the Lord and that He remains faithful. We continue looking to Him to provide and to open new conduit avenues through which support from America and Canada can be channelled to the ministry here in Fiji. This remains a pressing need, and we humbly ask you to continue standing with us in prayer as we entrust these matters into the hands of our faithful God.

Thank you again for reading, praying, encouraging, and standing with us in the work of the gospel. Your prayers, kindness, and partnership mean more to us than words can adequately express. We continue to pray for you all regularly and ask that the Lord would strengthen, encourage, and sustain you as you faithfully serve Him wherever He has placed you.

On behalf of Dr. Nair, Mrs. Nair, and the AFC(SP) Ministry Team,

In Christ’s love,

Nathan Adams
