Dear Friends,
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support. Because of your partnership in the gospel, we continue to see the love of Jesus for sinners reaching and conquering hearts in the darkest and most unexpected places.
Over Easter, we were invited to speak at an evangelistic night in New Zealand and, by the grace of God, 75 people responded, confessing Jesus as Lord and Saviour. We were humbled and moved as the Lord opened hearts and drew sinners to the only One who can truly save.
This is the heart of our ministry: to go where the need is great — to those who are hurting, lonely, and lost — and to come alongside them with the everlasting good news of our wonderful Saviour and King. Jesus, the friend of sinners, came to seek and to save the lost. And even at rock bottom, where everything else gives way, His grace holds firm. We’ve come to see that when people reach the end of themselves — though it’s a place none of us would choose — it’s often where the deepest work of God begins. It’s painful, raw, and humbling, but it’s also where we discover that Jesus is already there, arms open wide, welcoming the broken. Though our sins are many, His mercy is more.
First, we express our deepest gratitude to our Gracious and Good God and Father for preserving the life of our beloved brother and son, Premend Choy. We are filled with awe and gratitude for the continued answers to our prayers for Premend and the entire Choy family. Over the past few weeks, Premend has been able to gradually return to most of his normal daily activities, including walking around the neighbourhood, attending church, and engaging in meaningful conversations with friends and relatives. The profound love of Christ is evident in the way each of you has shown compassion and care for this family. We are truly thankful. Only the Lord knows when our brother and son will return to us in Fiji. We miss him deeply, but we are so grateful that he was in the United States during this difficult time, rather than in Fiji. God’s unwavering kindness in preserving his life and restoring him to his family is a truly remarkable providence. We kindly request that you continue to pray for our dear brother Premend.
We also want to express our heartfelt appreciation to our brother, Jake, for his unwavering support and assistance during this challenging time.
Ashley Saunders, CEO of BarnabasAid Australia, and his wife, Lindsay, visited the ministry. Barnabas Aid generously donated several tons of food, which we’ve been able to distribute. We spent time observing the various areas of the ministry and how the Lord had utilised the resources they sent to open doors for evangelism and to share the love of Christ with sinners in a remarkable manner. Throughout Christian Helps ministry, this kindness has not only enabled us to meet practical needs but also to share the love of God through both words and actions—proclaiming the good news that, in love, God sent His Son into a hostile world to reconcile us to Himself through the completed work of Christ on the cross.
During our Easter Convention, 200 people gathered each day over the three-day weekend. We praise God for this special time to reflect on the Lord’s Passion and Resurrection. We studied the fruit of the Spirit and how, as we go deeper into Christ and His love, the Spirit grows His beautiful fruit in our lives. Our local team conducted all the lectures and teaching. It was a joy to sit under God’s Word together in rich fellowship.
Dr. Pauasi Nui, our Vice President of the Bible College and the Vocational School, and I travelled to Vanuatu to run our School of Evangelism. Eighteen people took part in the week-long program. We’re grateful that the Lord continues to open doors for the Word to go forth. Our prayer is to see a new generation of believers who not only know what they believe and why, but who are also able to communicate God’s truth — not in their own strength, but in dependence on the Spirit.
We thank God for Sidweshwar Kumar (Executive of Evangelism and Church Planting, and Administrator of the Bible College) and Anand Singh (Executive of Camps), both of whom serve on the AFC(SP) Board. They continue to labour faithfully — planting and watering gospel seed across the Pacific. Both are graduates of Fiji Bible College and also serve as international field regional leaders for Samaritan’s Purse (Operation Christmas Child). We are thankful to see how God is raising up and using this generation of men to carry the light of Christ to the unreached.
We were also blessed to host Dr. Todd Stanton and his team — Gen, Becky, and Vinny — from St. John’s Baptist Church in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Stanton taught daily at the Bible College and led chapel sessions. Meanwhile, Gen, Becky, and Vinny ministered at our kindergarten, teaching Scripture and pointing little hearts to Jesus. The team also served with youth groups in Lautoka, Link Road, Lovu, and Nadi. Gen and Becky shared their testimonies, while Vinny opened God’s Word and called the youth to surrender to Christ. They also travelled to Rakiraki for children’s ministry, family visits, and evangelism. It was a joy to partner with them, and we look forward to future opportunities together, Lord willing.
Nathan also travelled to New Zealand to teach at a Tongan Easter Camp, focusing on youth and the broader assembly. On the final night, 75 people responded publicly to the gospel. Only the Lord knows the heart, but we rejoice in His ongoing work. He is still bringing life from death. He is still building His church. And He cannot be stopped!
Prayer Needs
Please continue to keep our brother Premend in prayer as he recovers. Pray that he would regain the strength lost during his extended time in hospital, that there would be no complications or further cardiac issues, and for wisdom as the Choy family makes plans for an extended stay in the United States.
Fiji Bible College students, as they complete their first semester, are currently preparing for their exams and assignments. During this stressful time, let us remember the true purpose of our studies. It’s not about accumulating knowledge which would lead to being puffed up, but allowing the truth and beautify of God and His word to transform us, experiencing the profound love of God in Christ Jesus. May everything we do and learn deepen our love for Him, serving as an act of worship to His glory, the love of His people, and the lost.
Please pray for our upcoming VBS (kids’ camp) and Youth Camp. Our friends from Shepherd’s House Bible Church will be coming to minister with us during these occasions. We are praying and eagerly looking forward to seeing them soon and witnessing what the Lord will do during this camp for His glory.
Additionally, please pray for the preparation of the upcoming annual Suva Pastor’s Conference. We are grateful that God has allowed three faithful international speakers to come and open the Word to the pastors. However, we have encountered many logistical obstacles due to our beliefs and teachings. Please pray that the Lord would open doors for us so that we can continue to proclaim the truth.
FHEC Registration – Please pray for the Bible College and Vocational Institute as we strive to communicate and submit the appropriate paperwork to the Fiji Higher Education Commission. This journey has been arduous, beset by numerous challenges. We humbly request your prayers that the FHEC may consider us favourably, enabling us to continue educating students from across the Pacific as a fully registered and accredited higher education institution.
We praise God for His continued provision and for those who have faithfully partnered with us in prayer and giving. Each month, our core ministry expenses total $20,000 USD, covering:
• Fiji Bible College
• Christian Helps
• The Vocational School
• The Gospel Retreat Centre
• AFC(SP) Kindergarten
• School of Evangelism
While there remains an ongoing shortfall, we bear witness that the Lord continues to meet our needs — often through unexpected and gracious means. We invite you to pray with us that He would continue to provide all that is needed to teach, serve, and proclaim Christ throughout the South Pacific.
In our daily group devotions, we’ve been praying for a scenario where a thousand people would choose to walk alongside us in a regular and intentional partnership. This partnership would involve giving not out of abundance, but out of a deep conviction that the message of Christ must be shared. If each of these individuals were to contribute $5 (USD) per week, it would be sufficient to sustain all our core ministries. While we don’t ask or solicit donations, we share this simply to encourage thoughtful prayer. We pray that the Lord may stir hearts as He wills, guiding us towards the ongoing work of the gospel.
We understand that the world is currently experiencing a global recession, which is causing significant financial difficulties and hardships for many people. In these challenging times, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous contributions to the Lord’s work. You are our invaluable ministry partners, and without your support, we would not be able to carry out our mission effectively.
We recognise that the Lord is sovereign and exercises His sovereignty through various means. His providence is administered through secondary causes, and we are filled with praise for all those who pray and stand with us in this endeavour.
One-Time Need: Urgent Repairs
Our Vocational School and Kindergarten buildings have suffered significant termite and structural damage. Without intervention, these buildings may soon become unusable. The estimated repair cost is $25,000 USD. We ask you to stand with us in prayer — that the Lord would provide what’s needed to restore these facilities and continue training and caring for students safely and effectively.
Because of your prayers and partnership, we are able to keep proclaiming that hope — a hope strong enough for every sinner and every sorrow. And we’ve seen it time and time again: when people reach the end of themselves, Jesus meets them there — not with condemnation, but with grace.
We’re so grateful to be in this work with you. Thank you for standing with us. We count it a joy to walk this road together.
In Christ’s love,
Narayan, Savita and the AFC(SP) Ministry Team
