Dear Friends,
I’m reminded constantly that we must and need to preach the gospel to ourselves every day and spend time under the shadow of the cross.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
Whether you’re working at your desk, rushing through the supermarket, or plodding through your day, sin creeps up on you and ensnares you. Before you know it, you’re trapped in its grasp. Later, you look back with regret, promising yourself you’ll do better next time, only to be ensnared again a little further down the road. This is the sadly repetitive drama of all of us living between the “already” and the “not yet.”
This is why it’s crucial to set apart time each day to sit under the shadow of the cross of Jesus Christ once again. In the shadow of the cross, sin should no longer compel us to deny or defend ourselves. In the shadow of the cross, we remember our true identity and the nature of our struggle. In the shadow of the cross, we acknowledge that the greatest enemy we face is not external difficulties or mistreatment, but the enemy of sin within. In the shadow of the cross, we cease pointing fingers and instead cry out for help. In the shadow of the cross, we recognise that we are not alone in this battle; in fact, we admit that we possess no power whatsoever to fight it on our own. In the shadow of the cross, we regain our sanity, acknowledging who we are and what we so desperately need. The shadow of the cross offers a place of peace and protection that can be found nowhere else. Let the shadow of the cross serve as your teacher.
The shadow of the cross teaches us how we should live. It teaches us to live humbly and wisely. To be prepared for the battle against sin. Unpreparedness denies all that the cross teaches us about our true identity and our needs. The cross teaches us that we need to pray for eyes to see and hearts that are attentive to the enemy’s temptations and sin’s lies. The cross teaches us to be humbly ready and to begin each day with prayers for divine rescue and strength.
The cross’s shadow offers us hope and courage. It teaches us to be unafraid to admit and confess our sins, not because we are powerful or capable, but because Jesus is the victor. Nothing we face, whether internal or external, exists outside the circle of the cross’s complete victory. I can face my sins without fear or panic because he fought for me and won, and he continues to do so.
Sitting under the cross’s shadow for a season, contemplating, confessing, and resting once again is truly a blessing.
Suva Pastors Conference
We praise God for the Suva Pastors Conference held this month, where 120 Christian workers attended each day throughout the week. This year’s theme was Bible Exposition, and we were greatly blessed by the faithful teaching of three dear friends of the ministry: Dr. Keith Stevenson, Rodney Chand, and Ben Dykman. Thank you, dear brothers, for ministering to us and using your gifts and talents for the good of God’s people and the glory of our God. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules and being away from your loved ones to minister to us over the week.
Although the first day was not recorded, the remaining sessions are available to view online. You can access the full lecture series through the link below:
It was a rich time of sitting under God’s Word and hearing it clearly and faithfully expounded. This year, we encountered significant challenges securing a venue—only receiving confirmation three weeks before the conference. Sadly, over the past three years, we’ve faced increasing difficulty and opposition in accessing church facilities in Suva. We are especially grateful to Samabula Gospel Chapel for opening their doors to use their chapel, kitchen and parking facilities. May the Lord bless you all for your kindness and willingness to be used for the sake of the gospel.
We would also like to express our special thanks to Mr. Nilesh Ghounder and Mrs. Lorraine Narayan from the Samabula Gospel Chapel for their hard work in helping us and making this event possible.
After much prayer and reflection, we’ve decided that next year the Pastors Conference will return to the Western Division of Fiji. Originally held in Lautoka in the early 1990s, the event was later moved to Suva to provide those in the capital with access to sound teaching, free of charge. While we are saddened by the change, we are also excited for the opportunity to host the conference at our Johnson Road Gospel Retreat Centre, where we’ll have greater flexibility and can send details out far in advance. We look forward to what the Lord will do in this new season.
New Semester Begins
Semester Two is now underway at both the Fiji Bible College and the Ambassadors Vocational Institute. We currently have 21 residential students and over 120 online students. Thank you for your faithful prayers. Please continue to pray that the Word of God would take deep root in their hearts—transforming their minds, shaping their affections, and leading them to love God, His people, and the lost more deeply.
We would also like to introduce our new first-year Bible College students to you in an upcoming update so you can uphold them in prayer throughout their journey.

Damien Peseika | Solomon |
Mendel Mavi | Solomon |
Josefa Yabakirou Ranawakana | Fiji |
Akuila Kalouniviti | Fiji |
The children at the AFC(SP) Kindergarten continue to learn and also hear from the Word - please pray for these little children that the Holy Spirit would bring spiritual life to them while they are still young, that they may remember their creator in the days of their youth. We are so grateful that the Lord has raised up Shayal as our current teacher. We are praying that the Lord would provide a second teacher who is a qualified Early childhood education teacher to come along side Shayal.
Prayer for Dr. Poasi’s Nui’s Daughter
Poasi’s Nui, who is the acting principal of the Fiji Bible College, and a former graduate of the Fiji Bible College - has a daughter named Helen. Helen was diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy following a hypoxic-ischemic brain injury, believed to have occurred as a result of wrongful medical treatment administered at a local hospital. She was only two when that happened and has been left severely disabled following a traumatic medical episode in May 2014. Since that event, Helen has experienced significant difficulties, she has been left in a vegetative state and suffers from intermittent eye-blinking spells, raising concerns about potential seizure activity. This case is beyond the medical capacity currently available in Fiji, and Helen’s condition continues to place immense strain on the Nui family. They love their daughter deeply and we are praying with them that the Lord would open doors that support, even in the form of medical advice/assessment or some equipment to help the Nui family; especially things that will help Mere transport and move Helen as she grows bigger. Please keep Poasi, Mere, Helen and the whole family in your prayers.
Update on Premend Choy
We thank the Lord for answered prayer regarding our dear brother Premend Choy. He recently shared the following update after a follow-up with his cardiologist:
“I had a wonderful hospital visit yesterday with my cardiologist. He was surprisingly pleased with my recovery from the cardiac arrest. Since I’ve had no setbacks and my ejection fraction is at 55, I no longer need to wear the LifeVest (external defibrillator). The MRI did reveal a slight scarring in my heart, but it is not concerning. With the cardiologist’s clearance, I am now able to preach, teach, and even travel—but I will proceed with caution.”
Please continue to pray for Premend and his family:
• Continued healing and strength
• No complications or further cardiac issues
• Wisdom for when to return to Fiji
• Resumption of his doctoral studies
• Comfort and grace for his entire family as they trust the Lord in faith
Celebrating 65 Years of Marriage
On June 14th, Savita and I celebrated 65 years of marriage. I thank the Lord for blessing me with a faithful wife who has stood beside me and honoured the vows we made before God. I could not have accomplished the work of the ministry without her. She is a woman who fears the Lord and has a deep passion for the lost.
Anniversaries give us cause to reflect on God’s faithfulness. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful—for He cannot deny Himself” (2 Timothy 2:13). Please continue to pray for Savita’s health—that the Lord would sustain and strengthen her each day.

Youth Ministry & Spiritual Climate
At the end of June, Nathan was invited to speak at a youth conference focused on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ and the truth of the biblical worldview. Please pray for the youth of Fiji. We are seeing a troubling rise in secularism, especially among the younger generation.
Among indigenous Fijians, nominal and formalistic Christianity is growing. Many possess a cultural Christianity that lacks power and conviction. Meanwhile, Islam is making inroads, both among indigenous Fijians and those of Indian ethnic background—many of whom remain Hindu. There are still countless individuals who have never heard the gospel or the name of Jesus.
Please pray that we would continue to faithfully plant seeds, water them with care, to look to the Lord of the harvest to give the growth and that He might send out those to harvest. Please pray that the Lord would give us endurance to continue to run the race looking to Him. To renew in us a passion for holy love; for Him, for our brethren and the lost.

Update on the renovation work at the AIVT and Kindergarten:
The Lord, in His kindness, has continued to provide the resources necessary to carry out much-needed renovations at both the Kindergarten and Vocational School sites. We praise God for His faithful provision, which has enabled us to make significant progress in creating safe, functional, and welcoming spaces where students can be trained, the Word of God can be taught, and Christ’s name can be proclaimed without hindrance.
That said, the issue of termites remains an ongoing challenge. These pests continue to pose a serious risk to the structural integrity of our buildings. We are doing what we can, ultimately we are looking to the Lord. He knows our every need—even the ones we haven’t yet seen—and we are seeking to rest in His perfect provision and timing.
Would you please continue to pray specifically for these practical needs? And if you’re able, would you consider sharing these requests with others in your church, Bible study, or fellowship group? We are a small ministry, but we serve a great God, and we believe in the power of prayer. If you feel led, we would be deeply grateful if you could encourage others to pray for the work of Ambassadors for Christ (South Pacific).
Upcoming Events and Prayer Requests
School of Evangelism and PIEMN Conference in Vanuatu
Please pray for the PIEMN conference, where students from our School of Evangelism across the Pacific (Solomon Islands, PNG, New Zealand, and Vanuatu) will gather for a week-long event. JD Summers, Dan Rudman, and Nathan Adams will bring the Word, followed by additional School Of Evangelism teaching from Faga Foarete and Dan Rudman. This month’s lectures will be Biblical Exposition, with a study through the Epistle to the Ephesians. Please pray that the Word will be taught with clarity, faithfulness, and dependence on the Holy Spirit.
Optical Team from Australia
Please pray for the upcoming visit of an Australian optical team, who will be working alongside Christian Helps to provide critical vision care. Pray for:
• Safe arrival of equipment and completion of required documentation
• Clear gospel presentations during the clinics
• Hearts to be opened—so that many might truly see and believe in the Lord Jesus
Urgent Prayer Needs
We also want to share a matter of great urgency and invite you to join us in earnest prayer. At present, we have only a small fraction of what is needed to meet this month’s essential ministry expenses. Our fellowship partners at AFC.USI have informed us that there are currently no funds in our account to support this month’s operational needs. This affects the ongoing daily work of the Bible College, the Vocational School, Christian Helps, the Gospel Retreat Centre, and the Kindergarten.
If you could make our support a matter of urgent prayer. As many of you already know, AFC(SP) requires approximately $20-25,000 USD per month to cover essential ministry expenses. These funds support:
• Evangelism and church planting
• Fiji Bible College
• Christian Helps
• AFC(SP) Vocational School
• The Gospel Retreat Centre
• The AFC(SP) Kindergarten
• The School of Evangelism
Would you please uphold these matters in prayer? And if you are able, would you consider sharing these prayer needs with others in your circles—your church, small group, or fellowship? We are a small ministry, but we serve a great and faithful God. We ask that you join us in praying that the Lord would move hearts and provide the necessary resources for the work to continue—not for our sake, but for the glory of His name and the advancement of His gospel across the South Pacific.
We continue to look to the Lord for our needs. He has graciously and faithfully provided for us over the years. Each month we are reminded anew to place our trust in Him. We humbly ask that you make this a matter of prayer—asking God to supply so that we may continue to:
• Equip students with the beauty of the gospel
• Serve the poor and proclaim the Saviour
• Declare Christ throughout the South Pacific—until He returns
In Christ’s love,
Narayan, Savita and the AFC(SP) Family
