AFC (SP) Ministry Update: March 2024

Dear Partners in the Gospel of Christ,

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."

The Apostle Paul’s earnest exhortation to his beloved Timothy in his last letter, written under the shadow of his impending martyrdom at Rome, Paul appealed to Timothy with these words: "What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2).

This same foundational principle has undergirded the mission of the College of Theology and Evangelism Fiji over its 50-year history. It is our deepest longing to raise up pastors who are anchored in the immutable truths of God's Word, as taught in Acts 20:28, "shepherd the church of God, which He obtained with His own blood." Just as Timothy was instructed, we too are dedicated to imparting the sacred trust once for all delivered to the saints—leading these men not only to know Jesus Christ but also to make Him known.

This month we have been organising locations for a team of doctors from Australia and New Zealand who will provide free eye testing to those in need across the western side of Viti Levu's picturesque landscape. Through this we desire that we might speak of Christ and His love as well as demonstrate that through practical deeds. It was on this trip that we were encouraged of the impact of our ministry when we encountered Wisaki, an alumnus of the Bible College.

Last year you might recall our joyful praise to God for the provision to rebuild the home of Naushad. Naushad was led to the Lord from Islam by none other than Wisaki himself. When speaking with Wisaki he spoke these words, "When we evangelise Muslims and Hindus, we must be ready to adopt them—their own families might forsake them, but we shall welcome them into our homes and hearts, for we are now their family in Christ."

Our hearts are stirred by such testimonies, and with great anticipation, we request your fervent prayers for our ministry. We would ask you to pray for these zealous servants of God being equipped at our College, that they might faithfully carry the torch of the Gospel to the many yet unreached, leading them into the salvation and submission to lordship of King Jesus.

That they may say with the Apostle Paul: ”But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ. More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them as dung, so that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ — the righteousness from God based on faith. My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead.“ Philippians 3:7-11

Thank you for labouring alongside us in prayer, for your fellowship in the Spirit, and for being co-labourers in this great harvest. May the Lord bless you and keep you as we serve Him together, for His glory and honour.

In Christ’s Unfailing Love,

Narayan.
